Austin Adventure

This past weekend my boy and I decided to take a fun little weekend trip to Austin. Nothing extravagant, but a nice little get away from our busy schedules. Our one year is coming up so it called for a celebration. Hanging out in Austin was a great little treat!

Here’s a little run down of our weekend

Firehouse Lounge & Hostel
If you’re anything like us, we like to go out from time to time, but to places that are a little more subtle and personal. A friend of mine recommended this little speak easy, and it was certainly a hit for Jon and I. Located behind a sliding bookcase at an Austin Hostel, is Firehouse lounge. We went mid day so it wasn’t crowded at all, and had the perfect environment for a special little cocktail hour stop.

County Line BBQ
Okay so, no we aren’t glutenous… but we do like to have a yummy meal! And barbecue has been a craving of mine lately. Yeah, we’re not the “healthy all day every day,” type. For our celebration dinner, Jon took me to a great barbecue restaurant that has the most beautiful view of the lake and the sunset. If the food wasn’t worth it, the view sure was.

Vintage Shopping
I’m not one to wear it often… but I love to look around vintage stores at all the clothing I wish I could purchase, or at least be brave enough to wear. Austin has a great selection of stores to rummage through. Near south Congress my favorite one was Feather’s Boutique. Had a good variety of clothing in all colors. I will definitely be making a trip back there soon. And plus, It has a wonderful accent wall, who can resist a little photoshoot action?

Overall, it was a really great and fun weekend with my man. Cheers to a year with him and for the future to come.

GNO

OOTD June 3.jpg

Yay Friday! Tonight is an official girls night out for me and 3 of my closest gal pals. I haven’t gotten to spend much time with them as a group since around Christmas time.

I’m keeping my attire for this occasion on the casual side.
I’m usually way against graphic shirts, but I’m beginning to like them more and more. When paired with this fringe skit from genuine people, it makes for a great ensemble.

To flash it up for a night out, wearing statement gold jewelry is a good mix.

Also for this fun fun night, being a little daring with make up is acceptable. I just purchased “lolita,” a Kat Von D lip stain and am in love. It’s a matte texture and perfect color to play up the natural tint of my lips. If you’re looking for a long lasting stain at an affordable price, I would recommend it!

I’m gonna get ready for the night!
Hope you all have a great one as well!

Cool Cat

OOTD June 1

Will this gloomy weather ever end? What am I saying. It gives me an excuse to wear black on the regular and to pull out some of my favorite accessories.

This day is all about keeping it cool but being well prepared for the many twists that Texas’ weather throws at us.

With a very comfy t-shirt dress what could be easier. The summer humidity is upon us and the best way to keep the stickiness away is with a light weight dress with plenty of breathing room. When I want to be lazy but still a cool cat, t-shirt dresses are my go to.

& what better way to dress them up than with a cute pair of lace up ballet slippers or the rocker chick pair of rain boots.

Also, don’t forget even with the appropriate accessories to keep the rain off, waterproof mascara is a must! Maybelline always has my back in that department.

I’d have to say that my two favorite pieces in this collection is the bomb Kendra Scott ring and the shimmery Monki silver dress. I’m usually not a fan of silver or Kendra type style, but I am absolutely loving their more edgy looked jewelry!

What’s your favorite rainy day wear?
